They privatise the profits and socialise the mess. It’s time these companies stopped pretending to be helpless puppies and started taking real responsibility.

That’s why all of us Greens MPs will be heading along to this incredible event—and we’d love you to join us. We’ll be screening a short film about the Rising Tide blockade—the biggest act of climate civil disobedience in Australian history. 📍
August 20, 2025 at 3:22 AM
But here’s the thing: real change doesn’t just come from politicians. It comes from us—people showing up, speaking out, and refusing to be ignored. 🔥

At the last ACT election? Labor showed up with zero new climate policies. And federally? They’re busy approving some of the biggest new coal and gas projects in our country’s history. It’s a total climate betrayal.

A huge shoutout to the amazing staff team there — they do this work every single day with such big hearts, and it’s inspiring to know our community is in such good hands. 👏 #canberra #supportthoseinneed #greens

Now, while these reforms aren’t the Greens’ first choice, they are a significant win for the community. Because what we’ve secured today means $150 a year, per person, will be taken off ordinary Canberrans—and put onto big corporations raking in millions in profit from this city. 🧵 4/4

The Greens have been really clear, a flat health levy does not take into account a person’s ability to pay and does not reflect the type of city we want to build. The reality is, it will unfairly impact a lot of people in our community. 🧵 3/4

This is BIG news, and reflects the constructive and good faith negotiations the Greens have led over the past six days, with one goal in mind: standing up for everyday Canberrans. 🧵 2/4

This election, it’s going to take all of us to come together and vote for change to fix this crisis. Vote 1 Greens.

As long as Labor and the Liberals give $176 billion in handouts to wealthy property investors, prices will continue to skyrocket out of reach of renters and first home buyers.

If you’re tired of the inaction on housing, you’re not alone.
April 15, 2025 at 6:01 AM
The fact of the matter is, these policies announced by Labor and the Liberals quite openly inflate the already cooked housing market, sending prices up—not down.

Today, the ACT Greens are calling on Labor to halt the destructive works that have begun at this site and work with Indara Communications to resettle the site practically and reasonably, nearby on less ecologically significant land. 📣
February 25, 2025 at 1:11 AM
Now, it seems Labor is not committed to fulfilling their signed promise, allowing this precious site to be destroyed for corporate gain, breaching our power sharing agreement and ignoring the pleas from the community. ‼️

During post-election negotiations, the Greens fought hard to secure protection for Ainslie Volcanics as a condition for the formation of this government, ensuring that its preservation would be non-negotiable.
February 25, 2025 at 1:11 AM
Instead, the government could require Indara Communications to build at another nearby site.
February 25, 2025 at 1:11 AM
Today the government has allowed works to begin on this site despite community opposition and despite the potential ecological value.
The government’s own planning documents confirm that there is no need to build a cell tower on this potentially significant site.
February 25, 2025 at 1:11 AM
One of those corporations is Indara Communications, a company that represents industry giants like Optus and Telstra. They want to bulldoze this ecologically significant site and so far, Labor has no plans on stopping them. 👎
February 25, 2025 at 1:11 AM
But since the formation of the new government, we have seen no effort from Labor to protect this precious grassland habitat. Instead, they seem to be prioritising the interests of big corporations. 💰
February 25, 2025 at 1:11 AM
Since 2022, the ACT Greens have been supporting the community-led battle to protect Ainslie Volcanics – a precious, community-managed grassland with immense ecological value to Ainslie residents and to the wider Canberra region. 🌲
