People who make music tend to like music. Music you love is fun to make whether you wrote it or not.

Deescalation is fine. But you can’t effectively deescalate when the situation is “you” and “several thousand anonymous people with whom you cannot possibly engage with individually”. It is, quite literally, impossible.

My partner had to quit because it was having intolerable interactions with a hiatus hernia and causing unmanageable constant nausea and boy has it not been great for their ADHD, so, sympathy.

(The current NHS attitude to pain management is AWFUL - they would like to take my pain medication away! I would like to keep what function I have left! We are not getting along! - but god I’m so happy I don’t have to add those tests too, you have no idea, and I’m sorry they’re making you.)

… just out of curiosity which are the two.

(Also if I had to do urine tests twice a year… Look, it’s not a big Medical Trauma, but I started refusing those without a good explanation that didn’t include “we need to check for pregnancy” roughly a year in to not yet getting diagnosed with POTS.)

I love mine but failed to predict that some vendors would make them with the tiniest heating rings imaginable, which some dickhead then sold to my parents, and thus will never recommend one again lest fate be tempted twice. At least not without twenty anxiety-induced caveats.

There’s a comment on one of the todd in the shadows videos describing going to one of Roth’s shows and there being a pause in the middle of it so Roth could show everyone a professionally filmed short documentary about his dogs, and honestly what better use for fame and riches than that.

They’ve been making Maersk sets since the 70s, apparently, so at this point it’s almost a Lego fan insider baseball sort of thing, if rather more unexpected than Space or Castle.

I’ve never liked it as a measure because I’ll happily eat almost any ingredient in the right situation but absolutely nobody, not even one single solitary person, who has ever been responsible for feeding me would describe me as easy to feed and not picky. Including me.

I got really obsessed with hong kong action films when I was tween-ish for that exact reason. The action was just so much more real and exciting! (And actually horribly dangerous but uh. Well, I was young.) I didn’t see a Western actioner that felt like that til I saw a clip of Fairbanks’ Zorro.

Back when J Kenji Lopez-Alt started doing videos during lockdown he was still living in San Francisco and his video for Garlic Noodles (a specific type) pretty heavily implied that it (and rice-a-roni) were mostly California foods. But it’s not like I can *check* from here. :p

This was going to be my question since I’m pretty sure our seasonings are different (I have never heard an American refer to being punched in the mouth by sage while eating a sausage, frex) and I’m delighted to see it pre-answered.

The other one you get is them trying to come up with some combination where you’d “have to” concede it was fine (and therefore they could excuse it for themself). E.g. A Poor was fired from their part-time minimum wage job and their house caught fire and only Shein could clothe their naked body.

I’ve heard that if you get the heat wrong it can do unpleasant texture things like splitting or going grainy, so I guess less competent cooks might be intimidated, but I’m not much of a chocolate person and have never bothered experimenting with it.

The only one of those three readily available here is Cholula, which I do like. Great for instantly improving packet rice on a bad energy day. I picked up a nice habanero sauce recently but they really aimed for HOT - I prefer sauces like Cholula where one can be happily incautious consequence free.

Like… the moral value is obviously entirely different, but: while mild transphobia is fairly pervasive, real obsessive can’t shut up about it TERFy types are so rare most people will never meet one in meatspace, but by god they’re SO loud online. That sorta thing.
February 8, 2026 at 9:05 PM
I have a suspicion that the Annoying Vegans are largely an internet problem, since even on the internet they’re a tiny (if loud) group which suggests they’re rare enough that most people will never meet one IRL.
February 8, 2026 at 9:02 PM
(I find the latter more irritating than even the most irritating of their vegan counterparts, because it’s usually more difficult to competently veganise a recipe than add meat. If you want a steak just cook a steak and plonk it next to the nice veggie dish, dude, it’s not complicated.)
February 8, 2026 at 7:32 PM
(The comment sections on recipes are an excellent method of finding both of them, either because they clicked on a meat-featuring recipe and wish to angrily complain that those still exist, or because they clicked on a plant-based recipe and with to angrily complain it doesn’t have a steak in it.)
February 8, 2026 at 7:29 PM
It’s kind of both. Except most vegans are just normal people who have made a choice about their diet and aren’t annoying. But there is still a subset who are definitely happy to make their veganism everyone else’s problem, and they act exactly the same as people who proudly ID as “carnivores”.

I’ve had to sit on such visibility twits semi-regularly because I *do* meet their deeply stupid standards and they can’t dismiss me as just being whiny, and I’m extremely sick of it. Plenty of less visibly disabled people have a harder time than the ones who are obvious at a glance.
February 7, 2026 at 11:44 PM
It isn’t as if we’re blessed with an enormous range of fictional disabled people, let alone fictional disabled artists.
February 7, 2026 at 11:41 PM
Yeah, he was defo doing more-visible-than-thou bullshit if that’s accurate.

I have been wording & braining extremely badly today so apologies for whatever the hell was going on with the writing there. I think it’s still comprehensible at least.
