Supernatural: The Girl With The Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo

Me: Felicia Day is going to be in this isn't she?

Supernatural: She's dancing in an elevator! So quirky!

17. Sergio has been featured
on dozens of other TV shows.
including a lengthy profile last year on Real People.

(Seeing Aragonés on Real People would have been like hitting lotto for me.)

Groo the Wanderer (Epic, 1985)
A stunning opening spread, Stan Sakai on calligraphy.

Before the opening, Aragonés explains he wanted to do Groo for years, but everyone wanted the rights.

I 💜 heart them so much

Samuree (Continuity, 1987)
I 💯% bought these for the Mark Beachum pseudo-Sienkiewicz covers.

Barry Blair and earrrrrllllly Dale Keown. While still a t(w)een bowl-cut nerd, I was getting into punk & buying anything from the .25 bin with a leather jacket on the cover.
Or in this case Peter Murphy.

Also a Dark Entry (haha) into queer & BDSM comics.

Samurai (Barry Blair, Aircel, 1986)
Swords, twinks, and giant robots.

The later half of Underworld feels Japanese live action influenced.
I would believe Len Wiseman (dir) watched Zeiram and Gunhed or Hakaider in addition to The Matrix.
(So much Matrix.)

Bill Nighy has no fucks to give and scenery to chew.

He played an aging rocker grasping former glam prime, in Still Crazy. At the time a glimpse in the future for any flamboyant, 30ish, Goth.

Underworld (2003)
A movie with more dramatic entrances than a Goth club on opening night.

The score is great. It often works indistinguishably with / as the sound effects.

Baker's look is surprisingly swapable.
Romana dressed like IV (at his most dashing) and rocked.

I didn't know the heroes of Home Alone 2 are Mad Hettie and the pigeons from Mary Poppins.

If this movie was made with half the budget in a foreign country I'd think it was a masterpiece. As is it's terrible.

Love's Secret Domain was on one of my favorite mix tapes and therefore its lyrics/poetry are burned into my brain.
My mental mp3 file is as much my own sibilant rendition as Coil's.

I don't know how much DJ Rob runs playlists versus shuffle, but this stretch is killing it.

I had a grey-market, Japanese only, VHS. Took me about 20 years before I saw it translated. 😅

If you've never seen it, from 89-90 Hobby Japan (odd # issues) ran City Breaker MADOX. It was a story that featured custom / scratch built models, and expanded the Metal Skin Panic universe.

That’s a good upgrade!
The One-pen looks like their OG pen from the 90s!

I was going to suggest Boffo Laughs as a comic comic, but it says right on the cover "it's NOT a COMIC -- it's a FUNNYBOOK"

Allan Quatermain books lean towards noble savage treatment of Africans, with some White Man's Burden. Though Quatermain has no real love for England.

They're a bit of travelogue as well as adventure tales.
