Who or What am I? Hint 1: They favour mature deciduous woodland which you wouldn't expect from their common name. They were only separated from another species that they look very similar to in 1897. Second hint at the same time (I'm out at a school again).

Who or What am I? Hint 2: A small, mainly brown bird, with a shiny black cap, dark bib and pale belly. Their ‘pitchoo’ call is a good way to identify them. Answer here at 8pm

Crispy Duck with Pancakes. It is easy to make this treat - as long as you have duck legs. And since it is served in a pancake, it could be served next Tuesday on Pancake Day - if you are a lateral thinker.
The recipe is on our website www.shropshirehillsdiscoverycentre.co.uk/recipes

Who or What am I? Answer: the wayfarer or wayfaring tree. Today it is ornamental. Traditionally its strong bendy stalks used to be used to tie hay bales and Otzi the mummified hunter found in the Austrian Alps from 4,000-3,500 BC had arrows made from its straight stems.

Who or What am I? Hint 2: At this time of year you will see its pale yellow-green buds which are opposite one another and broadly oval leaves. In spring, lots of small identical five-petalled cream flowers form together in one large flat-topped, scented flowerhead. Answer at 8pm

Who or What am I? Hint 1: Its ‘modern’ common name (from the 1500s) came from noticing it was often along lanes and paths. An older name is hoarwithy "hoar" means grey-haired for the hairs under the leaves, and "withy" means a pliant stem. Second hint at noon.

Who or What am I? Answer: ground elder It is believed the Romans brought it to Britain, for medicine and food. Numerous beetles, leaf miners, butterflies and moths feed on ground elder. So as a salad for you and for the minibeasts you could always grow some treating it like mint.

Who or What am I? Hint 2: Just starting to emerge now, it can put fear in gardeners as it readily spreads over large areas of ground by underground rhizomes. It has leaves, with three pointed lobes and displays rounded, umbrella-like clusters of small, white flowers. Back at 8pm

Who or What am I? Hint 1: The tender leaves have been used in antiquity and throughout the Middle Ages as a spring leaf vegetable, much as spinach was used. Best picked young and before it flowers. Second hint at now.

What would you like - Evening films, family films with craft sessions included, more alternative productions?

By this point in a grey drizzly January, you need something different - why not spagetti squash. Eat in the skin or a bowl. Cover with your favourite pasta sauce or just a bit of butter, salt and perhaps some grated cheese – you choose. shropshirehillsdiscoverycentre.co.uk/recipes

Introducing Mammoth Mondays
In 1986, something extraordinary was discovered in the Shropshire Hills, less than 20 miles away from Centre.
This discovery increased our knowledge of the end of the last Ice Age. These mammoths are the last mammoths known to have lived in Britain.
