Yesterday in Sarajevo I spoke on two panels at the @unwomen.bsky.social & @odihr.pl event on gender equality assessments in political parties. Proud of ODIHR’s role in supporting parties in BiH to reform rules, strengthen women’s leadership & make internal democracy more inclusive.

Partnerships move walls.
Advancing gender-sensitive parliaments in Bosnia 🇧🇦 through joint advocacy with parliaments at state and entity level. Despite weak quotas, momentum for real institutional change is growing.
Grateful for the strong partnership with @unwomen.bsky.social!

Fifty-five years ago, Willy Brandt made history.

I dream of the day when a Serbian political leader will overcome the pain of their own nation and unconditionally apologise for the war crimes of the 1990s.

Did you know Spain now has a Gender Parity Law? ✨ Adopted in 2024, it makes parity a rule, not a goal. Candidate lists must alternate women & men, and the Government itself must be at least 40% of each sex. A new era for equal representation. ⚖️ #Spain #GenderEquality

On 24 Oct 1975, around 90 % of Icelandic women walked off the job — and left their unpaid domestic work too. The strike helped lead to Iceland’s first gender-equality law in 1976 and inspired the election of Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, the world’s first democratically elected female president, in 1980.

Parliaments rarely conduct gender audits on their own. Chamber of Deputies 🇱🇺 is one of those champions.

🙏 to have met members of the working group tasked to do the job & to share @odihr.pl experience. Our friends from the @sverigesriksdag.bsky.social joined us to share their path.
