DEAR CADETS, I’M REALLY EXCITED TO MEET EACH OF YOU LATER IN THE SEMESTER, AFTER YOU HAVE SETTLED IN AND ALLOWED THE FACT THAT YOU ARE THE FIRST COHORT AT STARFLEET ACADEMY FOR A CENTURY TO SINK IN! EXOGEOGRAPHY 101 HAS BEEN A STAPLE EVER SINCE THE BIRTH OF THE ACADEMY, GIVING CADETS THE CORE FOUNDATIONAL KNOWLEDGE FOR MORE SPECIALIST DISCIPLINES FROM PLANETARY SURVEYING TO INTERSTELLAR NAVIGATION. The Loneel Mountains were a range of dormant volcanos on the planet Betazed. Ancient volcanic activity created a network of tunnels and caves throughout the mountains, which also contained high concentrations of sensor-blocking fistrium. Betazed is a remarkably lush, beautiful world, sometimes described as "the jewel of the outer crown" by traders and other visitors. Its gravity and atmosphere are comparable to Earth, and water covers 78 percent of the planet's surface. High mountain peaks of multicolored crystal catch the rays of the Betazoid sun, throwing delicate layers of color upon the landscape. The soil glitters gently as it contains crystals of a faceted green mineral called versina. The Betazoid sky is blue with pink clouds.

What a week! Watching Athena decend through the clouds over the Bay, to rest on the Academy Grounds is a sight I will never forget.
