He was put there by the votes of the rebel Conservatives who walked out of their party in May.

The District Council faces many difficult challenges. Will Cllr Maskell have the courage to change things - and to get the Council to a better place?

We were also sad to hear of the death of Cllr Darren Kitchener, a well-respected independent councillor who represented Hextable for many years. Our group will pay tribute to him at the council meeting and we offer condolences to all his family and friends.

The Conservatives lost overall control of the council when a bunch of them resigned from the group. It looks like they may be planning a backroom deal to impose another Tory as leader of the council….You can watch live on YouTube and we will update after the event.

Tomorrow night, a new leader of #Sevenoaks District Council should be elected by the council following the motion of no confidence in Cllr Roddy Hogarth and his subsequent resignation.
