They're also responsible for one of the best emails I've ever received, when the college office sent out a plea for sightings of Professor Biscuit while conveniently forgetting to mention that he was a cat...(I won't comment on how often a similar email might have gone out about human Professors...)

Twice at the same location it’s identified firecrest. But both times based on these contact calls, not on song (which I can now identify: rolling upwards in frequency). But I’ve always been too far to be definite by eye.

Yes, the song is great. On these occasions, it was there ‘chatter’. I listened back to it and it seemed indistinguishable from what I was hearing from the goldcrests. But there’s a reason why I rely on the app.

A couple of times it says it’s heard a firecrest in the same location. Second time I was close enough to clearly see goldcrests. Which is life-affirming but not life-changing.
