Many people mistake Democracy for being a 'fair' playing field upon which one idea can win absolutely over others (which is their goal.) It is not. It seeks to strike a balance, and our Constitution is that humility, codified.

Has Tom actually said that Trump is fascist? I know he' said the state isn't, with which I agree. But I'm not sure I've read anything from Tom that identifies any individuals as fascist either, hence my follow up question. I believe the Republican Party is a fascist one, while not yet the state.

now we're off to the races. So pretty much from when Hitler became Chancellor, and the two months it took him to dismantle democracy. so I ask this respectfully, are you saying it's only accurate to use the word fascism after we've lost the freedom of speech?

I am largely on your side, but I think I have a pertinent question. If you were a German citizen in the 30s, when would you have spotted the change? would you have started using the word fascism to describe what's going on before you would have been thrown in a concentration camp for doing so?
