Sincerely wish this instead read:

Safe, comfortable sharing of public space relies upon a solid social contract.

Yet when the owner of a popular local business consistently violates the contract, safe and comfortable travel for people unprotected by roll cages becomes precarious.

How might we shore up this social contract?

When you manage land and road infrastructure like this, #WorldCarFreeDay becomes a sort of joke.

Bolin Creek greenway in #ChapelHill, NC a month after Tropical Storm/Depression #Chantal.

This greenway endured significant damage to its underlying sand, silt, and clay.

It’s a critical transportation link and recreation facility in our area.

Imagine a town’s response if 5 people on bikes were to stand side by side to block a travel lane for 20 minutes.

Happy belated birthday, Jarrett! Fortunately, your hard-earned perspective tracks with reality for most:

The stark, exacerbating reality that is gun injuries and deaths tied to road rage isn’t discussed enough.

This is insane.

Traffic safety ≠ the absence of crashes.
Evaluating unsafety requires us to use objective and subjective metrics.
This is why Shabnam Abdollahi’s, @owenwaygood.bsky.social, Marie-Soleil Cloutier’s, and Irene Abi-Zeid’s work on traffic hazard featured at the #TRBAM is so important.
