I'm visiting the iSchool at the University of Illinois. Besides super interesting conversations with the brilliant folks here and the wonderful company of @anuncivilphd.bsky.social I also get to do morning runs on the prairie.

Not exactly what you are asking for, but a great guide to general push back against "AI" driven initiatives that also cover teaching:

Radical Children's Film and Television.
In my chapter, I discuss Sesame Street's mixed progressive history, right-wing radicalism, tech infrastructure, and censorship.
Also, the book has a chapter about Horrible Histories. ❤️

Working w my two PhH students on a paper about KIDLINK for the SSCIP conference I'm co-hosting in two weeks.

This Internet forum began as an email list in 1990!!! In 2000, it had more than 25000 (archived) webpages on the English-language site.

Was on a hike today as training for our vacation in the German alps, and it was a disaster.
I was in charge of provisions, and we all ate so much more than I expected--or rather, we would have if we had had more food!

I want the illustrator who made the pictures for the train tickets in Seoul to make a graphic novel about academic culture.

Just look at those birds coming out of the cat's brain when it's squeezed by the other passengers.

What glorious illustrations wouldn't they make of a committee meeting!?!

I'm in Seoul with the ##ERCCoG #WEBCHILD project.

Today, I was looking at old newspapers with my Korean partner on the project, Yonnie Kim. Here is a pie chart of web dominance (production side) in 2000.

The WEB CHILD stickers have arrived.
We participated in our first outreach event this week, and as you might have guessed they were a big hit.

Week 1 of the #ERCCoG #WEBCHILD project, and we already have designs for cool swag thanks to affiliated PhD student #SaschaBergBøgebjerg.
Imagine this as a holographic sticker and tell me if it's not peak '90s?

These are über cool conference badges. And the ##BDCAM25 conference is as cool as its badges (yes, I'm one of the organisers, and yes, I'm biased, but it's true).

I am *really* enjoying @dorothyjberry.bsky.social's keynote at #BDCAM25. Thoughtful, thought provoking and so beautifully composed.

I want a t-shirt that says "Historically..."

Took the background picture for this poster on a morning run in September 2023.

Had not imagined it would end up on a poster advertising an event on "historical perspectives on a new world order" only 1,5 years later.

Proud that my department is doing this event for our colleagues and students.

Have been looking at sources for my new #ERCCoG project, WEBCHILD, today.
5 books for kids in Danish from 1995-1997 on how to make a webpage, make friends online, surf the Web, etc.

We were at the beach this morning, soaking up some much needed sunlight 🌞

[This picture was taken at 10.30. Look at how low the sun is!]

Well, well. That wasn't exactly how I saw my year ahead.
But I have some bad habits that I need to beat (e.g., spending too much time trying to fix things that are not really my problem), so I will see this as a personal challenge.

In Denmark (and the rest of Scandinavia), people use flags to decorate their Christmas tree. My husband's family has some *very* old flags.
Can you guess when they are from?
And which nations they belong to?
