I'm trying my best to give myself credit where its due, and to give my younger self a bit of slack

Nobody knows what the fuck they're doing when they're younger, and you only really get to evaluate your choices after you've made them

But as the platitude goes, we're our own worst critic

I keep reminding myself that I'm still relatively young, and unless a world war, freak accident or disease gets to me some time in the next few years, I probably have a fair bit of time left

But it's very easy to fall into the mindset of "I've wasted my youth" when I look at opportunities I missed

It also reinforces the idea that maybe I should try antidepressants, because the latter feeling is always the dominant one

I never think "wow, look at what's possible!"
