I think that it depends on when a person grew up, before internet and with how rampant certain Dubs were back in the 90's and Early 2000's it's not that odd for people to miss things.
certain dubs outright removed or changed a lot, like changing names of people and places.

good ole "does the healer know esuna" and "does the tank know to interrupt the boss" dungeons.
really they should probably make people use those 2 more often, the healer role quest for DT was USE ESUNA at least.
