I’m here to learn. I read people smarter than me.
And I post photos from my walks, in the woods, in the mountains, along the sea.
I will say this about Bari Weiss… she got me to watch a 60 Minutes piece for the first time in years.
The full spiked 60 Minutes CECOT package, clean & subtitled. 1/5

Cool how we are smuggling domestic news in over the border from canada and people having to share it on bulletproof hosting providers to stop the government and media owners taking it down

Started hike at 1PM. No lights (sunset at 4PM). No spikes or snowshoes. Improper clothing. No maps. Ignored advice. Puts rescuers at risk.
This hike is 9 miles, with a 3800’ elevation gain, bringing you above timber line.
NH Fish and Game rescued two MA hikers from Mount Lafayette early Saturday morning
Authorities say hikers were unprepared for the journey and started a nine mile loop in the afternoon, which was too late.

It was dinner time on the west coast, and I wasn't going to interrupt our dinner to watch. But the near universal response seems to have been, “what the fuck was that?”

Seattle, right now

I’d love to see this building in a heavy rain storm
I think it’s a great pity when weird and frankly ridiculous/impractical buildings disappear. Too many architects bid you marvel at their sleek lines, and nowhere near enough make you go “hahaha, fuck off”. This, by a different architect, for example, has the protection it deserves

There is a pickup truck parked behind my Fit. The hood of the truck is higher than my car.

I don’t now how you can see anything driving that truck.

Today, the sun sets at 4:17 in Seattle. And every day in the long term forecast shows rain.
Here are some moody pictures of the cats.

I once witnessed a determined cormorant catch an eel. The eel put up a fight, slipping away a number of times, only to have the cormorant dive down and come up again with the eel.
If you ever wonder why people say "slippery as an eel" I can confirm that one time we had to hold an eel for a vet to do a blood draw and that eel ended up on the floor 47 times out of 48 attempts

I appreciate the “this could’ve been an email” sentiment. But this requires that you actually read the email.

I just tried searching an item in a pdf pricelist, and the search function found no matches. Finally found it by scrolling through the entire document myself, wasting a lot of time.

Can we all just just slow it down with this “move fast, break stuff” ethos

Rather than listen to Trump‘s Veteran’s Day speech celebrating war, it’s better to read the words of people who experienced war directly. Like Siegried Sassoon’s WW1 poem Suicide in the Trenches

You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

-Siegfried Sassoon
Trump: "We have officially renamed the Dept of Defense back to the original name, Dept of War. And remember we won World War 1, we won World War 2, we won everything in between. We won everything that came before. And then we brilliantly decided to change the name. We became politically correct"
