It's funny really growing up being afraid of the dark, bugs; now my fears are depressing, not even adrenaline inducing. A nothing world where you lay poisoned in bed so you can get up and work a nothing job because the job you wanted to work they automated.

Progress used to mean a free, healthier, advanced world. Now it's used as this defense for pushing the consumption of artificial slop; an internet that no longer connects but farms your attention for profit, that encourages you to stop thinking for yourself.

I'm afraid because I'm supposed to live another 40 years doing what exactly? Working paycheck to paycheck? Not learning? Discovering nothing? Because god forbid I reinvent the wheel?

Humanity supposedly evolved in years rather than decades yet suddenly we can't change a thing anymore? Nothing new can be made? We can't go to the moon despite doing so years ago because we needed to prove our adversary lesser?

Not wanting to evolve past what's considered profitable and reliable is how a scientist will never discover a cure, how an engineer will never prepare for the unforeseen.
