That's an incredibly dishonest framing of what he said. He said that in order to *impugn himself* for what he knew to be a disgraceful thought, and one many other people are often guilty of. "This was my impulse, and it's a bad impulse that I ought not have," is very diff from "this is what I want."

Oh for sure Duffy is full of shit, but I would like to see more cars with trunk space and CAFE does get in the way of that. We need to increase the federal gas tax, so it's a shame that's so radioactive.

I'm not proposing we drive 1978 Chevys, I'm proposing we allow people to buy cars with more space and better fuel efficiency than your hybrid mid-size SUV. Presently we can't because the cars need much better mpg and they only get somewhat better mpg.

Mine doesn't have a weight sensor, just "hey, you opened the back door earlier, do you have something back there to check on now?" And it can already detect door opening for ajar warnings, so just needs software to track it.
