Can you elaborate on what you mean by a dim room? I'm also curious how you print your cyanotypes too

I had a photog friend lose 3 Lacie drives, with gigs and gigs of his scanned/edited work, one after the other in the space of minutes after he kept plugging the wrong power adapter into the drives.... 🫣

#Photochat A3: My laptop with scan folder gets backed up usually every week, local and at a friends. All my negs are in sleeves (per scan date) in order, one ring binder per year and well they just the one and only copy. 😀 Can you back up negs?

#Photochat A2b: I can find the scanned image and look up in my neg sheets per year binder and find the negs when I want to print it in the darkroom. So far only B/W.

#Photochat A2: Been using a Canoscan 8880F for the past 15 years. Flatbed that does two strips of 35mm in a setting using their MX Navigator software. Then in CS3 (!!) to de-dust and crop out the extra surrounding the negs. Save in year/day folders as camera/film/dev/date as file name.

I started with Caffenol (Delta STD), migrated to Rodinal and happened onto HC-110. Mostly stick to those three. I also did a whack of Caffenol on old expired colour films I got in bulk some years ago before I decided to try actual C41.

In the past I've done some C41 with Tetenal chems but the past while I don't seem to have have enough to warrant mixing up a batch of C41 before it goes off. For B/W I do everything myself. Much easier, faster and cheaper. #photochat

I like the brass aspect. Looking forward to your results in the field testing

Did it get rid of the previous spots you were worried about?
November 29, 2025 at 2:10 PM
I'm not sure. I wanna say worse, less of a smooth clean.

I'm also interested in possible tips if squeegeeing is already in ypur process.
November 22, 2025 at 5:43 PM

When doing a pre-dev wash do you do this like Steve on the reel in very hot water but then go straight to dev process? Or do you wipe it down by hand and then continue?
