There is absolutely nothing to beat sport commentators totally losing their shit when their team - impartiality can do one - do something outrageous.

Glorious.
The BBC Scotland commentary for Kenny McLean’s halfway line goal is glorious. Stuff of dreams. 🔥

Congratulations #Scotland, see you at the World Cup.

On the drive down today, I didn't really believe BBC Wales' Feast of Football panel when they insisted that Wales would soon click and give somebody a hiding.

But, my word, that was something else.

I mean, if the WRU Executive can't even persuade the Dragons to sit in the same room as them for more than 10 minutes at a time, I dread to think what sort of welcome they're getting out west.

On the latest WRU ruse to make the new franchise holders take back the debt it has just taken away from some of them, pay the Union £1m for the privilege of running a rugby club without any say on any of the rugby, and then hand over 50% of any profits.

I am altering the deal. Pray I don’t alter it further.
One almost has to stand and applaud the sheer brass neck of the WRU in its brazen attempts to pass off this constant jack-knifing

"If their ambition is to portray the WRU as cartoon baddies, they could scarcely make it any more obvious if they took to parading up and down Westgate Street every day in front of an orchestra belting out the Imperial March". gwladrugby.wordpress.com/2025/11/14/i...

"The normalisation of decline, the quiet acceptance of humiliation, and the patronising insistence that there were “positives” to take from a 52-point loss. Really? "

Ooh, look!

It's only @squidgerugby.bsky.social displaying "Welsh Rugby: What Went Wrong?" while discussing the latest shenanigans.

Joyously, two years after publication, things are only going wronger.

Buy it, and drive yourselves into an impotent rage, here:

An interesting read on the confusion within the WRU's proposals - there's some good in them, but the whole is let down by a lack of understanding of and empathy for Welsh rugby. And for Wales.
A long read on the WRU’s terrible PR work, how the plans for the professional game lack any feel for Welsh rugby, and how we as Cardiff supporters can play a major role in trying to salvage a successful future for the club. cardiffrugbylife.wales/2025/11/02/s...
Supporters hold the keys at Cardiff
There may eventually come a time in Welsh rugby when there’s not constant off-field wranglings, arguments, threats and general chaos, and what will we do with ourselves… it won’t …

The biggest condemnation of the WRU in the time of the golden generation of the late 2000s and into the 2010s is that nobody ever thought - not even once - that Wales would, or even could, beat the All Blacks.

What a waste.

31 October is quite the day in All Black history.

In 1972, they lost at Stradey to the only Welsh team to beat them since the invention of colour television.

Then lost again, 6 years to the day later, to Munster.

21 years on, they got ambushed at the RWC SF by France in the greatest of games. 1/

"When they said four, were they to be believed then? Or are we to believe them now with three? Does that mean they weren’t sure then? Or are they not sure now? After all, they wanted two regions. Or so they said. Then."

A worst-of-all-worlds bad decision. And entirely on brand
Today’s is a decision so worst-of-all-possible-outcomes bad that it is, for the WRU, entirely on-brand. It is so very, very WRU.

So the three surviving teams, by 2030, will be on budgets of £7.8m.

That's lower than Edinburgh's budget today. Benetton are already on over £7m and forecast a 30% increase by the end of the decade.
