More likely the secondary lead acid battery drained and that's enough to render the car unusable because for some reason critical systems can't draw from the main battery

They recognize that people making a living by making stuff at home and selling it online risks letting people live without being dependent on corporations. They're trying to put a stop to that, starting with the things that are hard to defend.
