Adam Silver said WNBA players shouldn’t ask for revenue share because W revenue is much lower than the NBAs. But the NBA's financial condition heading into the 1983 CBA when players got rev share was similar/worse than where the WNBA is now. Going to discuss on today’s pod:

The WNBA’s Future Is on the Clock
It’s a make-or-break offseason for the WNBA. Is the league headed for a lockout? Or will the players get the changes they’re demanding?

Kristi Toliver's a name to watch in the head coaching hunt this year. At first glance, absolutely ridiculous escalation to the double-technical that threw Tibbets out of the game, but here's a fascinating combo high stakes/house money opportunity for her.

so many W rules just make you go "sure. ok."
for whatever reason, they only review 3-point jumpers for reckless closeouts

Kalani Brown has defensive limitations but her short run offers future team-building tips for Phoenix. Her presence at the rim opened up 2 layups for Alyssa Thomas, a good reminder of what the Bri Jones partnership looked like at its best, and that “spacing” is more than 3-point shooting

Even the basketball Gods couldn’t stop A’ja Wilson. Then again, maybe they were setting the stage for her. On her historic shot, the Aces killer instinct, and an immortalizing night for a player climbing up the GOAT ladder. www.theringer.com/2025/10/09/w...

my quibble isn't with the scheme as much as it is with the coverage. the Aces have so many clutch threats, but the Mercury doubled anyways. That's smart. But Bonner should have face-guarded on the inbounds instead of shooting the gap on the screen. A'ja was *way* too open.
Actually damn on rewatch they defended that really well. Only thing you could do is completely deny the ball to her but with 5 seconds why risk someone being uncovered for a Chelsea pass.

one that I've noticed is that the A'ja Wilson experience is so much more fun because WNBA fans/media don't prop up current greats by tearing down the past. we're not doing Maya Moore vs. A'ja Wilson on First Take every morning. as a longtime NBA fan, that's refreshing

in hindsight, the third quarter said a lot more about the the Aces heart -- and killer instinct
between A'ja, the Aces 3-point shooting, the early coverage throwing them off, the Mercury have a lot of excuses to give up. the second half will tell us a lot about their heart
