It's probably the Pack Hunter 4. Agile, quick, and a dedicated sniper..

Alright. Hopefully it feels a bit better to have those small things to work on. I'll try to find time to check in on one of your streams this week.

... and I mean "check in" like hang out, not to give you a grade on how you're going with those ideas!

It might be a little weird at first, but with the note right there you've got a reminder to work that kind of question in. Plus the examples are handy in case your mind goes blank.

OK. How about this? Write 3 stock questions in your own words: e.g. where in the world are they, what do they work/study, and what's their favorite game. Add some kind of "remind me" or "I don't remember if I've asked" to each. Put them on a paper note and stick it beside where you view chat.

Well, I know you do ask people how they're doing and often what they think about the game, so it's not really instead. Just pivoting the questions a bit more towards getting chatters to talk about themselves. 99% of people's favorite topic of conversation is themselves, right?

Probably best not to worry about that too much because it should average out.

The other thing that comes to mind is that you could try mixing in more "getting to know you" questions - like what part of the world are they in, are they working/studying, etc.

Yeah, that's tricky. It's always hard to know why people don't get started talking - and sometimes the reasons are contradictory. (Like people can feel weird about being the only one talking in chat AND feel weird about getting in the way of someone else's conversation.)

So, maybe we could come up with two or three small things that could help strengthen your connection with your community? I've seen other streamers have an icebreaker pinned in their chat - like a Question of the Day or whatever - to encourage people to speak up and get a conversation going.

Alright, that seems like something that can be worked on. The way you engage with people is great, but - in my experience - most conversations with chat are on the game or someone (like me) talking their special interest with you. There's nothing wrong with either, but ideally there'd be a bit more.

OK. I wonder if what's going on is that you get viewers to "semi-regular", but they mostly don't become regulars? Like people catch a stream for whatever reason and come away thinking, "that was fun, I should watch again next time he's streaming something I like."

Does that sound right?

It's tough out there, especially when you're not sure what to work on. I think you're really good at the core streamer conversation stuff (talking at the lurkers or with chat as appropriate, etc.), so whatever needs to improve is secondary. Do you have a best guess about the problem?
