No but I am looking at the situation and this is the playing field with the players. I don't think Ireland gains anything by placing themselves in this position. They have every right to do it though.

Current increased Irish alignment with western foriegn policy and increased military expenditures are what I'm suggesting might lead to increased foreign meddling and breaches of sovreignty

Now consider that if Ireland continues to more aggressively align themselves with western interests (which have a positively amazing record of respecting national sovreignty) what would an opposing power feel the need to do to that subordinate state?

The only places actually producing the vast majority of priests, leity and new catholics are in the global south. Francis/Leo are the elder stewards of that as of right now. It'll be interesting to see how that keeps evolving.
