I've written about Zionists, racists, climate change sceptics and even Holocaust deniers and have never encountered a group quite so committed to the airing of their views. Which is an interesting phenomenon, I suppose, and may be part of the reason why the MSM has been reluctant to go there.

Both surprised and not surprised. Surprised because I thought we bent over backwards to ensure it was fair, reasonable, balanced and sourced etc. Not surprised because in my experience they are fiercely combative about any mention of their cause that is not 100% flattering.

I think we deemed her views to be of interest to the public, and the general phenomenon of gender critics to be of interest to the public. It does not mean we support those views, but we can report neutrally on them.

Hi Caitlin, I know it was a controversial call. We thought that rather than ignore her, we could interview her and her challenge some of her claims, and include comments by critics. We think it was fair and balanced, and lets readers assess her expertise and whether there is compassion.
