There are great conferences and science in the US, but with the way things are right now, it’s too risky to attend.
“Soft” skills are not soft at all. They’re probably among the most important ones. It doesn’t matter how many titles you have or how smart you are, if don’t know how to communicate.
Grad schools should emphasize on said skills more.

Dear supervisors. Please remember that one of the worst damages you can do to your (PhD) students is writing their manuscript for them. Academia and Industry need professionals able to communicate and convey ideas clearly and effectively. Don’t hinder your mentee’s future. 😊

I don’t know if it is something at all, but do we talk about the social pressure we introverts experience when people ask about “your plans” or give you condescendence when you didn’t do anything on the weekend?
