via email from sfstandard Mayor Daniel Lurie is taking his time vetting District 4 candidates to replace recalled Supervisor Joel Engardio, but an appointment is expected this month. Meanwhile, folks are lobbying. Public transit advocates and YIMBYs sent a letter to Lurie this week asking him to select someone who will reject any effort to repeal Proposition K and reopen the Great Highway to cars.

In early July, Caltrans announced three significant weekend closures on state Route 33, known as the Ojai Freeway, in both directions, as part of a safety and drainage improvement project that extends just past North Fork Matilija Creek Bridge, about 9 miles northwest of downtown.
