Sally Jenkins (bluecheckmarked on Bluesky): Snippets that omit context aren't actual quotes. Kirk never said gays should be stoned, he never said he didn't want to fly with a black pilot. Yet these are viral. There is a TON of objectionable stuff he actually SAID to damn him for, without my profession sullying itself with sloppiness.

Aug 16, 2025 STATEMENT: Calls for negotiated end to Air Canada’s flight attendant dispute Naheed Nenshi, Leader of Alberta’s New Democrats, issued the following statement in response to the federal government’s forcing back to work of Air Canada flight attendants: “Today’s action by the federal government to force Air Canada flight attendants back to work without pay is wrong. Like all workers, they deserve to be compensated for every hour on the job and to negotiate a fair contract at the bargaining table. That’s basic fairness. “It is wrong for the federal government to force these workers to go to work and not be paid. No one should stand for that. This move also sets a dangerous precedent and sends the wrong message to Air Canada instead of holding this very profitable company accountable. “Alberta’s New Democrat Caucus believes every worker deserves to go to work, get paid fairly, and come home safely. In a cost-of-living crisis, workers deserve better. Today’s federal government action is the opposite of standing up for working people.”

Smith also questioned whether the PC Association name could legally return because elections law restricts reusing the name of the predecessor to a merged party like the UCP.
