While the Australian Government punishes children, it also lets big corporations off-the-hook for allowing abuse on the social media platforms they profit from.

This is what the social media ban actually means for children - the denial of connection, community and access to a world that it increasingly online.
As always, the policy hits harder at children who already experience marginalisation.

QCOSS chief exec Aimee McVeigh has also raised concerns about a shift in enforcement – denied by government – which she says has seen some youth justice orgs being told they’re in breach of *existing* contracts for speaking to media about YJ issues.
