Most of this group of Labour MPs were elected on a manifesto called ‘Change’ and yet spend their whole time opposing any kind of change!

This is the sort of thing that should be the headline on every news bulletin and publication for the next 24 hours but will be barely get a mention.

Difficult to comprehend how ill-judged this is on the part of the doctors. Why should well paid doctors be the only people to have their pay restored to 2008 levels?

It’s so embarrassing when people try and make a comparison between Starmer and Farage. There is no similarity between their policy platforms other than both have committed to control immigration. Something I think every current leader of every party has promised in some way.

Not sure how that would make sense - the Greens and Lib Dems agree on very little now that Polanski is in charge.

Don’t think anyone could disagree with anything in this piece - just get on with it now!

That’s speculative because the detail of how far the dismissal process was going to be abridged within the first 9 months wasn’t agreed. I suspect it would’ve been limited protection in that period otherwise why have that period at all? This is a sensible change which is why the TUC has welcomed it.

They currently have no rights for two years when that happens and in the original proposal they more or less wouldn’t have for nine months. Now they only won’t enjoy protections for six months. It’s an absolutely enormous enhancement of employment rights.

It breaches the manifesto positively for employees as it happens. The manifesto included a statutory probation period of 9 months. This effectively shortens that period to 6 months.

Spot on - the media don’t want to miss the opportunity to cry ‘U-turn’ though!

This article says it will be ‘impossible’ to claim unfair dismissal for the first six months of employment. This is false. Staff will be able to claim unfair dismissal without the need for qualifying service for a number of automatically unfair reasons - just like they can now.

These calculators and articles are designed to encourage the reader to form a view that their income is going down as a result of the threshold freeze. It should make abundantly clear that the result is your income goes up by less than it would have, not that it goes down.

If your business can’t afford to pay the minimum wage then your business model has failed. Simple as.

I think anybody who thinks Labour not reducing both legal and illegal migration significantly in this Parliament will result in anything other than a Reform landslide is stupid.

I haven’t seen any xenophobic messaging at all. Quite the opposite in fact.

You can’t end hotel use without trying to stop people coming! The two go hand in hand. Manifesto said Labour will ‘restore order to the asylum system so that it operates swiftly, fairly and firmly’ and will ‘fast-track removals’.
November 23, 2025 at 3:03 PM
It absolutely was in the manifesto - go and read it!
November 23, 2025 at 12:39 PM
Fair play but times change and this isn’t Corbyn’s party. Labour will be out of power for a generation if we don’t bring immigration right down and stop the illegal crossings. That’s just obvious.
November 23, 2025 at 10:36 AM
That our messaging is horrific and we haven’t been making popular decisions such as taxing the ultra rich, bringing immigration down, improving transport and infrastructure and lowering energy bills. Instead the one policy in the budget is abolishing the two child benefit, which is actually popular!
