As a former kicker/kicking coach I was thinking (maybe hoping?) the same. Timing just seemed too tight. If you watch any rugby when good 10s (see Finn Russell) go for 50/22s they definitely put a spin on the ball that takes a pretty harsh angle towards the sidelines.
