I like big shrooms and I cannot lie. This is Stropharia rugosoannulata, aka garden giant. They were cultivated outside on a pile of wood chips. #fungifriends 🍄

Classic video games look best on a CRT (cathode ray tube) display. RetroArch user sonkun created these amazing filters to mimic the look and feel of different types of TV and video signals for an authentic #retrogaming look and feel. 🕹️👾📺

Shoutout to muos.dev, a free and open source firmware solution for handheld devices.

Getting one of these set up with the right emulators and software used to be really hard. MuOS makes it super simple to configure these devices for #retrogaming 👾🕹️🍄⭐

My Italian grandfather grew tomatoes. We are continuing the tradition. Pictured are: Mr. Stripey, Beefsteak, Lemon Boy, Black Cherry, Sun Sugar, Sweet 100. 🌱🍅🥒🫑🍆

Late summer harvest: cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers and ong choi, aka water spinach (Ipomoea aquatica).

Ong choi is considered an invasive species in parts of the US south and is even on the Federal Noxious Weed list.

It is also on my delicious Asian greens list. 🌱

Original arcade cabinets are hard to find nowadays. Most of the classic games in arcades are a PC running an emulator with an LED monitor.

The CRT on this Donkey Kong cabinet at Cidercade Austin is in remarkably good shape for its age! About 75-80k of these were made for the US market. #retrogaming

This was a huge advance in #retrogaming graphics. On the left is the C64 which has a fixed 16 color palette. On the right is IBM PC EGA which still only 16 colors but they can be chosen from a master palette of 64 colors. Every scene gets to have it's own unique 16 color palette.

Our first resident has moved into the frog ashram. His markings confirm he is royalty of the Spotted Northern Leopard tribe.

Internet, meet Lord Herbert, or "Herb" for short. 🐸👑🌱

Ultima IV looks fantastic with the Ultima patcher applied for higher res graphics and music! #retrogaming 👾🕹️

I'm laid up for surgery recovery for a few weeks, exploring the retro gaming catalog for some classic RPGs.

Tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, and cucumbers are still going strong. Let's see how long we can keep this party going! 🌱

This was a fun weekend #retrogaming project. The Atari Fightstick controller makes a great retro gaming system. The console is large enough to house a small form factor PC running batocera.org

Ultima IV is a Commodore 64 RPG game that I spent countless hours playing as a kid. Good times!

Breaded and fried the giant puffball and it was delicious!

We ate it with potato salad and a fresh tomato from the garden.

Pleurotus citrinopileatus, aka the Golden Oyster mushroom is native to China and Japan. It escaped from farmers markets and has begun to spread in North America.

I do not mind this delicious invasive species, in fact I'm helping it grow in the backyard! #fungifriends 🍄
