When I moved to Toronto almost a decade ago, I had never watched a second of baseball.

One of the first things I did as a lonely immigrant was attend a Jays game. It made me fall in love with the Blue Jays, baseball, and Toronto itself.

This team is special.

On Sunday myself and colleagues from @ecojusticecanada.bsky.social joined @ufcwcanada.bsky.social to highlight the risk agricultural workers face from exposure to toxic pesticides. The workers who put food on our tables deserve protection from dangerous chemicals. windsorstar.com/news/local-n...
'Sounding the alarm' — Farm workers union takes Health Canada to court over pesticide safety

Canada is on the cusp of regulating #PFAS under environmental law. The new Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, @juliedabrusin.bsky.social, has a chance to lead and finish the job.

Tell Minister Dabrusin: Regulate toxic PFAS now.

Tell the federal government to finish the job on “forever chemicals”
It’s time for Canada to act on toxic “forever chemicals.” PFAS, also known as “forever chemicals,” are toxic, don’t break down, and are building up in our bodies and environment.

I spoke with @thestar.com about the threat from the Trump administration to environmental regulations in Canada. We've seen the fundamental dismantling of environmental rules and governance in the United States. We can't allow the same to happen here.
Canada’s strategy to reduce plastic waste is being singled out in a trade report by the Trump administration as a barrier to U.S. exports, a move one expert believes is meant to pressure Canada into abandoning the policy.
Trump report says Canada’s zero plastic waste strategy is a barrier to trade. Is the policy at risk?
A Trump trade report said Canada's policy to reduce plastic packaging "could compromise food safety, increase food loss and waste, and restrict U.S. agricultural exports."

PFAS, aka “forever chemicals,” are building up in our bodies and environment. They don’t break down and are linked to cancer and immune issues. Today, Canada took a key step by recognizing #PFAS as toxic under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act #CEPA
but there’s more work to do. 👇

Earthjustice is ready for this moment. Over the last four years, we have built our capacity to navigate the new legal landscape. Many of the incoming administration's plans are rehashes of old fights – fights that we have won before.

One election will not deter us or erase the environmental progress we've achieved.

Solidarity is the only thing that can save us.

If you look back at history, solidarity has propelled essentially all social progress that we now celebrate or take for granted. And is what we need to move forward.

“Solidarity Is the Only Thing That Can Save Us”
Without cultivating a strong sense of solidarity with mass numbers of people we’ll never meet, we’re doomed to slip further into atomized isolation and defeat.
