I’m discovering I like big weaving better, but I also like being able to knock out an idea quickly - this was fun to do 😊

Rebecca Mezoff’s books and online resources are a good place to start 😊 I follow a lot of tapestry weavers on Instagram, and have learned a lot from what they share.

While I agree they’re all detestable, I don’t see how they’re worse in any degree to the ranks of detestable men, unless the implication is that they should be kinder, more truthful and more compassionate simply by virtue of their gender? Don’t fall into the trap of internalised misogyny.

That is quite the drive - the furthest I lived from town was Perthville.

I grew up in that part of the world, and Bathurst was a great hub for live music when I was at uni there in the late 80s-early 90s. 😊

Tapestry could be that thing - I can certainly see scope for all those crafts in tapestry weaving, which you can do on a simple frame loom. There are definitely techniques, but no rules!

The composition makes it look like a bizarre Renaissance painting 😂

North Ronaldsay is quite coarse, not a wool you’d want against your skin, but it will spin fine. It’s a mix of white and grey, shot through with black - it makes great tapestry skies!

Saw them once, when I was working at the student union in Bathurst back in the 90s, some fancy inter-campus games that merited a big-name act 😊

I’m truly sorry your health keeps you away, live music is such an amazing thing 💚

You’re playing all the good stuff! I have tix to see the Gadflys in mid December.

Saw them live a year ago supporting TISM and they’re still awesome

An ostrich in Österich - even my limited German is enough to make this funny to me 🤣

Thank you 😊 I’m fairly new to tapestry weaving but it’s a lovely slow way to make art.

More than pass, I’m giving this an A+.

Stitch definition is as much about how the yarn is spun as it is about quality or the type of wool. Wool can be spun woollen or worsted - woollen will give you an airy fluffy yarn, while worsted gives a tight smooth yarn with excellent stitch definition. Ply matters too.
