Hard to imagine it’s been a whole year! Kudos to @herrmania.bsky.social for turning this monthly synth night into a vibrant scene. 30 min sets, a tasting course of modular to elektron and everything in between. Marc Laidlaw kicks it off at 7:30. (Old Town Pub in Pasadena, tonight).

Got to see both Autechre sets last night in LA. First one from up above and second set from the middle of the floor. Middle of the floor is definitely the way to do it. Set 2 was actually quite danceable especially as a friend put it, ‘if you can count to seven’.

Djrum playing a four hour set (his first in LA). I am wrecked. Never seen anything like this.

New live show next month in a cozy venue. Happy to be spending some time back in Lincoln Heights.

Forgot how hilarious this films is, how disgusting, and how deeply tragic. What Cronenberg could do in 95 minutes was just magic. Goldblum and Gina Davis are just 10/10 (The Fly, 1996).

‘Boo Laptop shows!’

Poppycock! Just saw @tomhallsonics.bsky.social play an incredible show, mind bending sound, peerless visuals, sequenced lights— all on Max MSP. WOW!

Somewhere past HiF’s broken concrete and razor wire, it’s happening very soon.

I swear I take these photos in case I need to rebuild the patch, but we know that’s never going to happen. Turing machine on the Music Thing Workshop sending clock and other magic to the make Noise Friends. Dirty and angelic ambient tones for the two tracks Gybon & Gaale.

Celebrating Father’s Day in the theater with the 2nd greatest film about the abdication of the job:
Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Director’s Cut).

The 1st is Eraserhead of course.

Absurdly fun evening watching David Lynch and Mark Frost’s @markfrost.bsky.social ON THE AIR with and audience and Ian and Nancy in attendance.

Some real zingers:
‘I have an idea, sweaters for the Cold War’

And of course, the unhinged finale: There’a no business like shoe business.

Such a relief to just open a lid and have everything locked down. Here's my humble grid that was once a spice rack, out and about on Sunday night.

Fine, if I want a gif of Diane Ladd guzzling a martini in Wild at Heart, I guess I’m going to have to track down a disc and rip it myself.

The new Brian Eno / Bette A book ‘what art does’ is triumphant because of its simplicity—no small feat. Expecting to see this on everyone’s shelves by the end of the year.

No Country for Old Men at @vidiots.bsky.social tonight. Was not prepared for how funny this bleak film is. It felt like tense horror in 2007, but with the right audience— it’s also laugh out loud funny in several parts.

Sunday night — we celebrate Orly’s birthday. Looking forward to hearing the gang and spec. guests Sleepy Cat and Jeremiah Jude. Live hardware techno in Pasadena.

In more recent films — I really really liked SNOWTOWN. I managed to see it not having any idea about the story. It’s every bit as bleak as anything else I’ve ever seen (including Threads).

THE LONG WEEKEND is a marital breakup film mixed with a fight with nature.

WAKE IN FRIGHT is one of the best hangover bender movies. A very rough ride.
