This isnt even a wrestling thing. Its something storytellers and writers have known for thousands of years, long enough that Homer understood it when he wrote The Iliad and The Odyssey. This is a storytelling device incepted before writing was even invented.

Its called an ebb and flow of story writing. You have to do things that make the audience upset so they have things to celebrate. Storytelling 101. Highs dont matter if there are no shocking lows. Youre SUPPOSED to be upset about it. And you clearly are, which makes it effective.
