You could also go with a portable CD player. I just happened to have a tape deck and blanks lying around, and I personally find cassettes more compact to carry around than CD cases.

Currently I’m using a 2000’s Walkman with rechargeable NiMH batteries. Is it slightly bulkier and more inconvenient to record digital music onto cassettes? Sure, but service wise it’s way easier to maintain, and NiMH batteries are safer than LiPo and provide more than enough power.

The market for refurbished iPods can also be a little sketchy. Throwing flash upgrades and cheap replacement batteries looks good online, but I’ve heard of them crashing or having battery swell after a few weeks of use, and they can be tricky to self repair for a novice.

The market for DAP’s has gotten limited. There’s only a handful of Chinese companies, and Sony, still making new ones. They’re catering more to the audiophile market, and they’re priced accordingly. They also run Android for the most part, so if you’re privacy conscious caveat emptor.

Even hardcore bands are starting to throw nu metal influences in and it immediately makes me change to a different artist.

It’s what ruined Roots by Sepultura. The guest appearances from members of Korn and Limp Bizkit ruin an otherwise solid concept.

We should stop calling it generative AI.
It doesn't generate and it isn't intelligent.

Large Language Models are statistical plagiarism machines, IMHO.
