That forecast skill comes from @cw3escripps.bsky.social’s Atmospheric River Reconnaissance Program, which uses @noaa.gov and U.S. Air Force Hurricane Hunters to gather data over the Pacific. These insights help predict when and where powerful storms will hit.

In coordination with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, @sonomawater.bsky.social, @cw3escripps.bsky.social and the California Department of Water Resources, forecast-informed reservoir operations (FIRO) will help operators balance flood safety and water availability.

The French Academy of Sciences will award Distinguished Professor Emeritus Veerabhadran Ramanathan with the Grande Médaille, its most prestigious award! The Grande Médaille celebrates Ram’s outstanding career as an atmospheric scientist and his more recent efforts in policy and outreach.
