Agreed. I can’t have a problem with people’s deserved prejudices against Americans. They’re entitled to that. But you’re not enlightened for calling an entire country of people something they don’t call themselves. That makes you an asshole. Just own it. We’re used to it.

It’s 3 characters shorter, I don’t personally buy that as a reason. If someone uses that term, my assumption is they’re prejudice against Americans. Which is fine, whatever, but calling people something they don’t call themselves (and people have vocalized disliking) is rude. Period.
