Yea. And families are being torn apart across the state. So many families with parents who have been here for decades and are now being deported, etc. So, marriage visas are just one part of that, but it's real. If I can't marry the guy I love and want to marry here, I'll do it there.

I received notice today that my fiancé (who has Venezuelan citizenship but who has lived in Chile for 10 years) is impacted by the "visa pause," so I might be leaving California and the United States soon. I wonder how many other Americans have left in the past year...

If you were working-class you would know that a lot of working-class people have tattoos that we got at various times, and not everyone has researched the symbolism or looked at a fact sheet provided by an anti-Muslim organization first.

But again, this is assuming your average person would know that. I have six tattoos; I wouldn't have clocked it.
And it's not a visible tattoo. This likely wouldn't come up in his everyday life until he decided to run for Congress and had someone running oppo research on him.

Intention matters. I spent five years protesting against fascists in Portland from 2016-2020 and I didn't recognize it. It's not something the person on the street would see and say, "I'm going to get this to identify as a Nazi." The controversy about it is a classic smear job by centrist Democrats.

I believe his story about Croatia. I'd find that a little harder to believe about a swastika, but a skull? People get tattoos like that all the time.
