I am genuinely baffled and distressed as to why the UK government is intent on destroying UK's genuinely world-leading universities, who bring £265 billion into the economy and support more than 250,000 jobs.

This tax will kill us.

A2 to certain extent the type of HEI. Also career progression v research interest. I am a magpie lots interest me so I have varied outputs #LTHEchat
A2 I think it depends on whether you are focussing on discipline funded research or SoTL research. The former is not inclusive for a number of reasons. #LTHEchat

A1 I have had the snobbery that SoTL “it is not proper research “ until they realise that a significant proportion of people that they say it to do have some SoTL publications in their profile #LTHEchat
A1 it's pretty toxic imo. Research is thought to be superior to teaching, and the culture is to look down on anyone not on a research contract. Definitely not something I am allowed to be part of #LTHEChat

A1 I am lucky in that I believe and had a career that sees aspects of Scholarship and traditional discipline based research as both research- so I do feel part of a research culture #LTHEchat
