I invite all of you to join me in signing this petition regarding stopping the development of AI superintelligence (that can outperform humans) until its safety can be verified through scientific consensus and the public expresses interest in its creation.

Read most of this "paper" last night and it's actually one of the craziest things I've ever read - fairly solid evidence pointing to the idea that deep into OpenAI's ideology is a doomsday cult. This is authored by what were previously "researchers" at OpenAI.

If Salesforce is laying off employees because of AI, why are they also insourcing employees (over 1,000 per year) through H1B visas? How much of their work has also been outsourced to India?

I've worked on a few games over the years but one got shelved and another got canceled. The canceled project was Super Bandy World, a retro style 3D platformer that we had a hard time finding the hook for. Still, it was a fun idea!

Since a few weeks ago, I have looked at other tools that accomplish similar functionality like sfdx-git-delta (SGD). SGD is a great tool I am now utilizing myself and I'm thinking through what path forward (if any) makes sense for sfmanifest. Hope to have more details in the next 2 weeks.
Announcing the public release of `sfmanifest`, the tool my team and I made at Symmetry Energy for creating Salesforce XML deploy manifests from Git branch diffs (even tons of classes, fields), written in Rust.

Instructional video and other documentation is coming soon.

The premium training industry has changed a lot over the years. I've noticed a few trends:

* More competition than ever
* Less money to go around for production or from customers
* A lot of people are turning to AI while simultaneously complaining videos don't go into enough depth

This interview with Karen Hao about the inner workings of the industry underscores that the current market environment is hiding an ugly truth that while efficient and benevolent AI is possible: they're more interested in power, capital, and your personal data.

Honestly, with how unsure we are that anything is real on the internet (I now also see people declaring that real content is AI, not just the other way around), why don't we get rid of comment and reply sections? We don't know if they're real comments anyway.

I have a few new things coming out for the Salesforce community in the coming months that are going to be pretty interesting, including an Apex performance benchmarks project (it's about time, Salesforce). It's time for us as Apex users to demand more from this language.

No promises yet but I am investigating to see if we can downgrade the system requirements for Kalling Kingdom. Original reqs are based on what we could actually test.

Might really be the following from original to new:
2GB RAM -> 512MB
DirectX 11 -> Meh! (OpenGL)
Windows 10 -> earlier Windows

I have an unpublished article about my first decade in software, and it's in part because it states names of people and companies who were scummy, incompetent, or other negative things to me. For now, I'll instead say: you're always better than sticking around and being mistreated - just leave.

I've had even friends say that it wasn't the best business decision to abandon the Unity game engine to build a new one. But do you notice how the Unity evangelism that used to exist seems to be gone now? No one seems to be enthusiastically talking about their engine anymore.

Another very busy weekend planned, and doing my best to carve out some time for some update posts: ElegaCorp.com and Kalling players will both receive some news. Elega work is very busy behind-the-scenes at the moment. 👀

Have had trouble getting enough time/energy to work on Kalling Kingdom lately but noticed today that between porting the game out of Unity into the new engine and the new engine itself I've passed over 10,000 lines of code - a nice milestone. Lots more to do and I'm putting in more hours this week!

Large language models are useful, especially for the instance where they're predicting the next word from your natural language prompt and perhaps formatting an API action in return. But they're not real logical thinking agents, and they're not replacing you that soon.
