Bacon's on the retirement off-ramp. Don't discount the possibility of a sardonic Don.

In a just world, this clip rolls as the warmup at the next NATO defence ministerial.

Go to Intercamp or any other multinational scouting event here in Europe and they’re ALL co-ed. We were the weird ones before opening up (then) BSA to girls. Definitely better. There’s also nothing preventing having girl/boy-only troops if that’s what the sponsors wish for their precious littles.

I dream of a future where "SecWar" and his enablers are completely hamstrung on world travel because of ICC warrants 📜 and Interpol Red Notices 🚨

Having signed the Homestead Act in 1862, Lincoln surely saw an inordinate amount of recently "acquired" tribal lands that needed development too. Those frontier settlements wouldn't build themselves, they would need more aspiring Americans to fill in the map of the continental U.S.

You have a nice house, a beautiful yard, and family that gets along with each other fairly well. You’ve got the worst neighbors to the east though.

Agree. After the Holodomor, Ukraine was forced to live with its attacker until 1991 and by then, it was difficult / impractical to separate itself economically. It will take a couple of generations before any real cooperation occurs; if and only if there is an ounce of contrition from the invader.

Agree. They’ve reframed the shipment of narcotics to the U.S. as a hostile act, legitimizing the use of force. With few exceptions, the rest of the world does not share that view. Even if state actors support it, it remains a criminal activity that warrants arrest and prosecution, not execution.

A few folks had better get their European vacations planned before Interpol has their arrest warrants in hand. 🚨

The commander and those carrying out the order won't be judged on theory. They'll be judged on the reality that they no longer posed an immediate threat at sea and ceased to be legitimate targets. In theory, they would be judged for such a criminal act and held accountable.

As very young officers, we were taught about the responsibility that comes with the authorities transmitted down to us. Responsibility comes with accountability. Authorization to shoot survivors would have meant complicity in a war crime. If true, then accountability must come for everyone involved.

Even as the greenest of green officers, we were taught the basics of the Geneva and Hague Conventions, the Law of Armed Conflict, what wrong looks like, and what right sounds like. When a combatant becomes essentially defenseless, they are no longer a legitimate target. Killing them is a war crime.
