Anyone who says ‘I love God’ and hates his brother, is a liar, since whoever does not love the brother whom he can see cannot love God whom he has not seen. Indeed this is the commandment we have received from him, that whoever loves God, must also love his brother. — (1 Jn. 4:20-21)

My annual replay and reshare of this video series by my buddy @happyguerilla.bsky.social. Three cheers for pointing out the patently mystical “meaning” of Christmas. :-)

Across the cold chains of the centuries, I feel the warmth of Thy breath, I feel Thy blood pulsing in my veins. Part of time has already gone, but now Thou art the present.

Why is it that on a Feast Day the whole of nature mysteriously smiles? Why is it that then a heavenly gladness fills our hearts; a gladness far beyond that of earth and the very air in church and in the altar becomes luminous?

Glory to Thee for calling me into being
Glory to Thee, showing me the beauty of the universe
Glory to Thee, spreading out before me heaven and earth
Like the pages in a book of eternal wisdom

It may not be enough to say, "Read widely, read often, and read well," in an environment permeated with byte-sized, short-form media culture.

In Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, The Enchanted Garden has the Thank You Tree, to which the citizens of the Neighborhood attach thank you notes. They are very enchanted by the Thank You Tree—it represents everything good and beautiful.

I think this is a great Eucharistic parable of Paradise.

let me be clear- AI is plagiarism, pure and simple. it invents nothing. it simply assembles what already exists somewhere in a bastardizing fashion. lazy people use AI because they can't write or think for themselves. AI is the hallmark of the indolent and the playground of the ignorant.

Heard on a podcast, social media is founded on the bare minimum of what our actual value, namely our economic value to social media companies.

This makes it obvious that our social media understates who we are.

My aim in joining the Orthodox Church was never to separate myself from anyone else. In Orthodoxy I found the Communion of Saints and the Church tradition I agreed with most, a historic path to salvation I longed to imitate and participate in.

This plain American Air Force veteran who grew up where I live now, in Midwest USA, who used to go to the parish I attend years ago, was stationed to guard "a dump" — Wadi El Natrun. Just absolutely wild. And he thought to tell me about it. Unbelievable.

Like, I mean, one is led to think, what I wouldn't give to visit Wadi Natrun — modern day Scetis, one of the original areas where the desert fathers settled. I would even go there just to realize it's a dump. Like, what? Really? How holy that place must be!
