honestly if you learn the open source software first it's really not that dire (aside from DAWs, rip music makers who want to switch to Linux)
the issue is just that a lot of people are more proficient in software that isn't on Linux and for one reason or another would have trouble switching over

I hear GIMP is more powerful as a photo editor, if muuuch harder to use. Krita can suffice for photo editing but is very obviously geared mostly towards drawing and artwork
