That’s definitely frustrating.
If you’re going to go the Notepad route I might suggest downloading VS Code. It’s fairly lightweight as a text editor but you get some added benefit from it knowing HTML/CSS etc and being able to show you where you might have errors etc.

I’m surprised that there isn’t a WordPress theme out there that will work for you. It’s been a while since I’ve built a site using WP but it used to be super flexible for that kind of stuff.

I had this conversation with someone in my house too, but I took it too far and went down to the nulls and sigils and she started glazing over a little.
(The sigils are particularly important to me bc I got to meet my dude @robsheridan.bsky.social after the very last HTDA show in Silver Spring.)
