BE STRATEGIC ABOUT CONGESTION PRICING. City streets are a classic case of the tragedy of the commons. When provided free to drivers, they are over-used to the detriment of everyone. Use pricing to free up space, reduce negative externalities, and generate revenue for the benefit of all.
Mamdani: "[Congestion pricing] is an opportunity to reshape the streetscape of the central business district of Manhattan. We have an opportunity here to do immense amounts of pedestrianization for the entire congestion pricing zone..."
