Since being threatened with closure 14 years ago, the church has gone without a minister, lost its building, and relied on the congregation to raise funds themselves to rebuild it.

The parish also includes a ruined medieval chapel and graveyard overlooking the beach (dedicated to St Blaan), within sight of the Irish coast, where St Columba reputedly first landed in Scotland. St Columba’s footprints, cave and well are all nearby.

Bill Walker was an elder at Montrose for 50 years when he "retired" and now creates the beautiful flower arrangements that add a blaze of colour to the sanctuary each week.

It is always a rare treat to capture the installation of fragile floral displays and the local artists who create them!
