So in early March of 2025, the official Twitter (I refused to call it "X") account for "Starfield" made the following post: As you can see, that was over nine months ago, and 2025 is nearly over. The last real venue from which Bethesda could have made an announcement regarding "Starfield" and hoped to get a lot of media attention would have been at The Game Awards, earlier this week.

So I'm a big fan of simplicity, when it comes to tabletop roleplaying games. If I can limit the amount of times in my games that a GameMaster or the players have to roll the dice to see what happens, or look up some rule in the book, then I'm a happy developer. Some of my games have only been around 30 pages long, just a basic zine in size, and I was pretty happy about that.

So normally about this time of year, we start seeing various outlets releasing their "Game of the Year" awards. Most of them don't matter, because they were either bought by the publisher, or the outlet is otherwise biased in some manner. In short, don't believe the hype. But there is one outlet that, for some strange reason, is given some manner of respect to their annual awards, and that is "The Game Awards", which happen to be being presented later this week.

There are more rumors swirling around "Dungeons & Dragons", as there often are, but these might be worth listening to. According to Tenkar's Tavern on Youtube, there are somewhat credible rumors regarding not only a new edition of D&D being written right now at "Wizards of the Coast", but that this 6th Edition might see a return to some of the old school mechanics of early editions.

I've previously discussed this idea over on my sister website, the forum "Tabletop Tribe", but felt the idea might get more reach from my main page, so... So, I'm thinking about starting up a new podcast, focused on tabletop roleplaying games. It would be a community-driven roundtable podcast, where I would host (introducing the topic, chiming in where needed), and the rest of the cast would drive the discussion.

So I have a long and rather disastrous relationship with "Baldur's Gate 3". I bought the game as soon as it was released for Xbox Series X in December of 2023, and have given it multiple attempts to play through the game since then. Every single attempt has ended in tragedy. My most recent foray into BG3 came just last week, when I tried to make a new character and start fresh.

So the ridiculously-popular D&D 5e campaign "Dungeons of Drakkenheim" is being reworked into a new edition for "Daggerheart" (see the Kickstarter campaign here). This may not seem like a big deal, but I expect this news has some folks over at Wizards of the Coast a wee bit unhappy. To be frank, this isn't the beginning of the end for D&D (that happened several years ago), but it is a rather monumental shift.

So, we all know about the US tariffs placed by the Trump administration, and how they have significantly impacted trade worldwide. But what about when it comes to tabletop roleplaying games? I know that last spring, the word was that TTRPG books printed outside of the United States would be virtually exempt from these tariffs, but other items like dice, minis, game-master screens and so on might be affected.

So Valve announced their next big hardware release last week, to include a new VR headset, a new controller, and of course, a new console/PC thing in the "Steam Machine". This wouldn't be the first time Valve has tried to release a Steam-focused home gaming device, as their last Steam Machine project failed utterly, but this time I think they may actually do well with it.

TL;DR: "Grand Theft Auto VI" got delayed, and it's another weekday ending in a "y". *Yawn* Look, I get it. The "Grand Theft Auto" series of video games are really damn popular, and it has been a really long time since there has been a new game in the series. It is frankly natural for fans of the series to feel that way...

So I just got back from a two week vacation, one where I had planned to do a lot of livestreaming on Twitch. The plan was to livestream myself playing a lot of horror and horror-adjacent games leading up to Halloween, but that... just didn't happen. Oh, I did play some games, and I especially did one big stream regarding tabletop roleplaying games, but that was basically it.

So I bought an Xbox Series X back in August 2023, in preparation for the then-imminent release of "Starfield". But that's neither here nor there. What matters is that I've noticed something over time that has really come to bother me more and more about the Series X platform. It's slow. Like really, really slow. Now I don't mean it's slow while playing games, to be fair it does a fine job in that regard.

So let's talk about a little horror game called "Never Going Home". On the face of it, NGH is a bog-standard war game, set in the no-man's-land of Europe during World War One. The horrors of trying to survive the trenches of WWI, through the chemical warfare, constant artillery and machine gun assaults, and sometimes hand-to-hand combat... that alone has enough to make for an interesting tabletop roleplaying game.
