(Technically, I woke up to the first three, then we further developed the fourth together. But I LOVE THIS SO MUCH HOLY SHIT GUYS.)
When the twins were one, as Azem, this person went by the name of Aeolus, a keeper of winds that went wherever the winds blew, sometimes picking their path, and at other times, going wherever the stray breezes took them. They were genderfluid / nonbinary, not really sticking with one way of expressing themself or another. While very social, they also had streaks of rebellion and generally liked doing things in their own specific way. Gifted in magic, their skill could compete with even the grand Hades, who later becomes Emet-Selch - their summoning magicks were like none other. Be it familiars, new creations made on the fly or even summoning their trusted friends, Aeolus was extremely gifted with magic. Like the twins, Aeolus had white hair that they kept in a white braid, changing which way they parted their bangs for whatever they felt like. Their hair tie was always orange - a wonderful contrast against their white hair and their vibrant blue eyes. They were short in height, and had a sleek build, that was almost on the feminine side, but their voice held at a steady tone that could easily pass as either. Which, as something that may just come as a shock, is what their intent was. They had two earrings, but only wore one, oft changing it to be the opposite side of which way their bangs were parted. The one not being worn often was transfigured into a set of beads along their mask. Aeolus loved to journal and sketch, and oft found themself reading about anything and everything, finding every little bit of new information fascinating and being able to ramble on and on about such topics without end. Even when writing up reports, they'd often sketch out various details they'd find with their newest searches across the far flung corners of the star. Their preferred method of fighting was via summoning with whatever creature they came up with, though they are particularly fond of a much more tamed and cute version of the carbuncle that Lahabrea kept in the depths of Pandaemonium. If left without their summoning magicks, Aeolus could easily swap to a specific magic that danced around with a sword, dashing and weaving between standing still with their magics and the delicate dance of swordplay with a rapier. Their closest friends were Hythlodaeus and Hades, oft finding trouble to get into with Hythlodaeus and enjoying debates and studying with Hades, going to the Academia with the both of them. Originally going to study as a Word of Emet-Selch due to their magical prowess and talent for understanding creatures and peoples of all sorts, calming them and helping them as needed, they were quickly scouted by Venat for the Seat of Azem. The selfsame hair tie that holds their braid together is made from the same cloth that Hythlodaeus' braid holds itself in, while their earrings are made of the same material that Hades' earrings are made of, even if he never wears them. Travel was often lonely, but they negated that by being able to summon forth their two dearest friends, and sometimes even their mentor - until when the Final Days hit. They gave warning, but nothing could prepare Amaurot for what happened, and the Convocation's plan to sacrifice half their number to summon a god to recreate the laws of the star... they couldn't stand by and let it happen. Determined and overconfident, Aeolus was sure that they could find a way to save the star before the Convocation went through with their plan. And so, they left. ... and they were not fast enough to find a solution. Hythlodaeus sacrificed, Emet-Selch twisted to blindly follow this... god of their creation, Aelous found themself suddenly alone. Even Venat turned to summoning to take on Zodiark, and soon they had no one. So when the sundering came through, they made a wish. They split their soul, so that they may never go through their struggles alone again. After Aeolus was sundered, their incarnations often were seen as duos. Be it siblings, friends or anything else, they were always seen together, fated to meet up and travel the star together. While their appearance and race oft differed per lifetime, they were almost always drawn to find one another. Unfortunately, this also made it very easy for the Ascians to target them and figure them out as the sundered soul split in two. As one soul split apart, unfortunately, this meant they were more weak than most others by themselves. Powerful together as a fighting duo, they were a force to be reckoned with; but alone, they oft struggled. The Calamities that happened were orchestrated by the Ascians whenever they were successful in splitting the duo souls apart. In one case, even, they pitted them against one another, causing a fight between them as bitter enemies. Although they were successful in creating a Calamity this way once, it's been unsuccessful since; the Thirteenth Shard is the result of this fight, and due to such a fight going so poorly for all involved, the Ascians decided it was best to not do so again. After catching on who to look for and how to look for them, especially with Emet-Selch's vision, the Ascians often were able to kill off one or the other before they could meet or before they grew too powerful together. To the current day and era, Hydaelyn can see the timelines slowly coming together, and as a last desperate attempt She made it so that the soul of her pupil would not be forced to fight and travel such a journey alone. Born as twins, they were bound to one another from the start of life, and made sure they complimented one another, strong where the other was not. And as such, leaving their home in Old Sharlayan, does the tale of the duo Warriors of Light, Alphinaud and Alisaie Leveilleur, start.
