A summary of our statement on the research protocol:
This research is not about the safety of these medications which have been used for this very purpose since 1989. It is the result of an ideological view at the very top of the DHSC and NHS that being trans is a ‘less desirable outcome.’

At an absolute minimum, from a pure values perspective, why would Aotearoa want to pin our healthcare against a trial like this? It will be a stain on our history to endorse this trial as a country. Don't let it stand.

still getting details but yes only trans kids not kids with say endometriosis, early puberty, etc. What is so far less clear is whether the ban is "only" for trans people under 16.

All angles need looked at, parents directly involved are likely comforting their kids who were on wait lists and now will never be seen. People other than the parents at the coal face can take up the challenge surely.

I have no faith in the next government to consider young trans people a priority :( I hope I'm wrong. Governments interfering in individual medical decisions and access to any care is dangerous and a sickening overreach
