Dr. Khalidi is planning to offer a public lecture series instead, similar what @karenattiah.bsky.social is doing.

Columbia could have listened to students, faculty, & staff asking them to address complicity in genocide. Instead they betrayed them, maintained complicity, & capitulated to fascism.

Palestinians in Gaza are enduring genocide & extreme temperatures made more frequent by climate change. They have no water, electricity, food, adequate shelter or medical treatment. Israel, backed & armed by the US & other western nations destroyed basic means of survival. Embargoes & sanctions now!

I'm thinking of 9-year-old Aliah Reyes as the AQI near where she lives is over 150 today.

We need climate action to reduce the risk of wildfires & associated smoke, and action to filter indoor air.

Read this by @dustyc123.bsky.social to learn about the health impacts of air pollution

There is hazardous air quality over the northeast US today from wildfire smoke moving in. Take precautions such as wearing an n95 respirator and running filters (which is a good idea anyways given that we are also seeing increased covid cases again).

Tomorrow the International Court of Justice (ICJ) will issue an advisory opinion (AO) on nations’ responsibilities to address climate change & uphold human rights.

I'm grateful to have been a climate science advisor on it, supporting the testimonies of Sierra Leone, Namibia, & others #ClimateICJAO

This panel on covid safer counter-spaces is happening tomorrow morning at #AAG2025! I'll be talking about the intersections of climate change and pandemics, and sharing about local disability justice organizing.

I'm convening this hybrid panel today at #AAG2025, come join!

"Panelists will speak to their understandings of the current moment in international law, and the hopes and frustrations international law offers to the suffering caused by armed conflict, genocide and rapid climate change."

Higher future emissions will have higher long-term SLR. By comparing different historical counterfactuals run with various future emissions scenarios we find that long-term attribution to past emissions is robust regardless of future emissions trajectories... 8/n

I'm so excited to be reading @farhanasultana.com's new book 'Confronting Climate Coloniality'! I attended the brilliant @geographers.bsky.social sessions that led to this and it is exciting to see it published. I'll be adding readings from it to my newly updated Geographies of Climate Justice class.
